Happy Birthday!

I have been having such fun with Stampin Up! punches.
And there are so many new things you can do with them.
I was doin a Shoebox Swap with my fellow demonstrators and I just love the
119864-Round Tab and 118402 Scallop Trim Border Punches.

I wanted to make a Birthday Card.
I looked at the Round Tab punched out and if you cut it in half it looks like a
cute lil cupcake!
next,  with 118402 Scallop Trim Border Punch
punch the edge of  cardstock and again using the Round Tab punch~
punch out the "frosting" for your cupcake.

...next

assemble the pieces and using
118309 Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pak,
don't forget the "cherry" on the top!
finish it off with the SU stamp ~ 116978 Homemade
which coordinates with 118874    2 3/8" Scallop Circle.

If you would like to make this and more,
you might think about booking your own workshop.

Dad's Birthday Card

As promised, in June...Summer is so busy on the farm, but enough excuses...
Here is the card I made for my dad's 80th Birthday!

I'm ashamed to say I've been away sooo long!
I hope you will think it was worth the wait.

1. Cut a 7X6 1/4 inch piece of cardstock

2. Score 1 inch vertical lines beginning at the top, 3 inches and 4 inches from the left edge; repeat at the bottom.

3. Cut horizontally from scored lines 1 inch and vertically
4 1/4 inches. Make sure you don't cut over your scored lines. This will create a "hinge".
Below...you will see the "naked truth".

Cut a 6 3/4X6 inch piece of your choice of DSP.

I cut an opening in the DSP slightly larger than I cut from my cardstock. Starting only 3/4 inch from the edge of the paper but my opening is 3 1/4X4 1/2 inches.

Now adhere your DSP to your cardstock.
Fold card along scored lines so that left side is on top.

Stamp your choice of image and adhere to the front of card.

My opening is 3X4 1/4 inches...instead of the 2 3/4 X 4 1/4 inches in the diagram

here is the twist.

Now add your sentiment to the card back and
Voila!
Which also happens to be the SU stamp set I used.
I LOVE this set, don't you?

I  hope to bring you all kinds of new ideas in the next while.
Thank you for looking and come back soon!

Dad's 80th Birthday!

If you see your parents on a regular basis you don't noticed them
aging. So when my dad was approaching 80 years old, I thought...WOW, where did the time go?
Course then you stop to think about your own age. He keeps telling me that it's hard to think of me as a...GRANDMOTHER, or "Manga" as the grandsons call me.

Over MEMORIAL WEEKEND, we had a small family gathering for my dad.
Wonderful weather, great food, fun watching the lil ones!
Just a great combination for a great MILESTONE!

My dad used to work for the GREAT NORTHERN RAILROAD...the mascot was "Rocky"  the Great Northern Goat!   All these years he has tried to be so "gruff"....

               THE OL' GOAT!

He would refer to himself as the Ol' Goat!
More of a family joke than truth! But this year, when ordering the cake I couldn't resist. Here is the finished cake...from Dairy Queen. Well I walked in, gave him a BIG (((hug))) and kiss and wished him "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!"   He started singing...."Happy Birthday to the Old Goat"

THEN I SHOWED HIM THE CAKE !!!
We both had a good laugh....<(*\/*)>

We dont stop playing cuz we get older....
We get older when we stop "playing"!

Age is a "Matter of Mind".....if you don't MIND, then it doesn't MATTER!!!

Come back soon, I'll show you the card I made for him. I LOVE how it turned out!

Thanks for visiting and Happy Stamping!~ Pixie

Accordian Fold with a TWIST!!!

I saw this technique in a book and just had to play with it!
I've been having such fun making these for different
occasions starting with my son and his wife's 4th Wedding Anniversary.

I was looking for something new
that I could do for a change...

WELL, I found it!

Some people refer to this as a Z-fold or Accordian fold.

I felt abit TWISTED that day, so this was perfect.

This is the FRONT...

It is my FIRST  attempt,
as you can see, it takes a twist in the middle. This way, you get to use TWO sentiments. One on the front and one...
on the BACK!!

I'm usually working under the wire....need a card like NOW!!
I find I work best UNDER PRESSURE.

later I will be posting more detailed directions for making this card.
If you would like to see first-hand how to create one for yourself

Life on the FARM....is FAR from LAID BACK!

I've been alittle absent to my blog...SPRING  is a busy time on the farm. We've been busy in the fields: planting oats and corn AND pickin' ROCKS!  EVERY YEAR....JUST LIKE CLOCKWORK!

The nice part is, that people in our area are looking for rocks, for landscaping, for water-damage control. Seems, as fast as we pick'em, THEY'RE GONE!!  We just leave the wagon out at the front of the lawn and come morning, POOF!  Most people will come to the house and ask to take them, but there was a woman in a skirt who just stopped and started loading them into her lil car and drove away!

Rocks...THE BEST CROP WE NEVER PLANTED!

I will be back to card making soon....

Hang in there!
