Here is the card I made for my dad's 80th Birthday!<br />
<br />
I'm ashamed to say I've been away sooo long!<br />
I hope you will think it was worth the wait.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXN7nujmiI/AAAAAAAAAPw/N0wwWgAQSOg/s1600/Dada+80th+bday+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXN7nujmiI/AAAAAAAAAPw/N0wwWgAQSOg/s320/Dada+80th+bday+front.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
1. Cut a 7X6 1/4 inch piece of cardstock<br />
<br />
2. Score 1 inch vertical lines beginning at the top, 3 inches and 4 inches from the left edge; repeat at the bottom.<br />
<br />
3. Cut horizontally from scored lines 1 inch and vertically<br />
4 1/4 inches. Make sure you don't cut over your scored lines. This will create a "hinge". <br />
Below...you will see the "naked truth". <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXVdEgkBBI/AAAAAAAAAQA/35Y6JaWYxZE/s1600/The+naked+truth---card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXVdEgkBBI/AAAAAAAAAQA/35Y6JaWYxZE/s320/The+naked+truth---card.jpg" /></a></div>Cut a 6 3/4X6 inch piece of your choice of DSP. <br />
<br />
<br />
I cut an opening in the DSP slightly larger than I cut from my cardstock. Starting only 3/4 inch from the edge of the paper but my opening is 3 1/4X4 1/2 inches.<br />
<br />
Now adhere your DSP to your cardstock.<br />
Fold card along scored lines so that left side is on top. <br />
<br />
Stamp your choice of image and adhere to the front of card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGYA9TyOWVI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/tKbUHR7RNME/s1600/The+naked+truth--2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGYA9TyOWVI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/tKbUHR7RNME/s320/The+naked+truth--2.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">My opening is 3X4 1/4 inches...instead of the 2 3/4 X 4 1/4 inches in the diagram </div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXa36YfPII/AAAAAAAAAQY/fEr8tOATa7g/s1600/Dada+80th+bday+middle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXa36YfPII/AAAAAAAAAQY/fEr8tOATa7g/s320/Dada+80th+bday+middle.jpg" /></a>here is the twist.</div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now add your sentiment to the card back and<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXbyY99zCI/AAAAAAAAAQo/I2h9bMR7ark/s1600/Dada+80th+bday+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TGXbyY99zCI/AAAAAAAAAQo/I2h9bMR7ark/s320/Dada+80th+bday+back.jpg" /></a></div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><span style="font-size: x-large;">Voila! </span></strong></div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Which also happens to be the SU stamp set I used. </div><div align="right" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I LOVE this set, don't you? </div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
If you see your parents on a regular basis you don't noticed them <br />
aging. So when my dad was approaching 80 years old, I thought...WOW, where did the time go? <br />
Course then you stop to think about your own age. He keeps telling me that it's hard to think of me as a...GRANDMOTHER, or "Manga" as the grandsons call me.<br />
<br />
Over MEMORIAL WEEKEND, we had a small family gathering for my dad. <br />
Wonderful weather, great food, fun watching the lil ones! <br />
Just a great combination for a great MILESTONE!<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAfxJrnSm6I/AAAAAAAAAPo/cgfxvm1nCCc/s1600/Old+Goat+Cake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAfxJrnSm6I/AAAAAAAAAPo/cgfxvm1nCCc/s320/Old+Goat+Cake.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
My dad used to work for the GREAT NORTHERN RAILROAD...the mascot was "Rocky" the Great Northern Goat! All these years he has tried to be so "gruff"....<br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: large;">THE OL' GOAT!</span></strong> <br />
<br />
He would refer to himself as the Ol' Goat!<br />
More of a family joke than truth! But this year, when ordering the cake I couldn't resist. Here is the finished cake...from Dairy Queen. Well I walked in, gave him a BIG (((hug))) and kiss and wished him "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" He started singing...."Happy Birthday to the Old Goat"<br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: x-large;"> THEN I SHOWED HIM THE CAKE</span></strong> <span style="font-size: x-large;"><strong>!!!</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><span style="font-size: small;"> We both had a good laugh....<(*\/*)></span></span><br />
<br />
<br />
We dont stop playing cuz we get older....<br />
We get older when we stop "playing"! <br />
<br />
Age is a "Matter of Mind".....if you don't MIND, then it doesn't MATTER!!!<br />
<br />
Come back soon, I'll show you the card I made for him. I LOVE how it turned out!<br />
<br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting and Happy Stamping!~ PixiePixiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14779117246783626344noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7085252697109213983.post-7540600953058501282010-06-02T00:06:00.002-05:002010-06-03T11:04:04.611-05:00Accordian Fold with a TWIST!!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
I saw this technique in a book and just <strong>had</strong> to play with it!<br />
I've been having such fun making these for different<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXhtlweJLI/AAAAAAAAAPI/ZeFaR917aLE/s1600/Accordian+Fold.+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXhtlweJLI/AAAAAAAAAPI/ZeFaR917aLE/s320/Accordian+Fold.+front.jpg" /></a></div> occas<span id="goog_1551151708"></span><span id="goog_1551151709"></span>ions starting with my son and his wife's 4th Wedding Anniversary.<br />
<br />
I was looking for something <strong>new</strong><br />
that I could do for a change...<br />
<br />
<strong>WELL, I found it! </strong><br />
<br />
Some people refer to this as a<strong> Z-fold </strong><strong>or Accordian fold.</strong><br />
<br />
<strong>I felt abit TWISTED that day, so this was perfect. </strong><br />
<br />
This is the FRONT...<br />
<br />
<br />
It is my FIRST attempt, <br />
as you can see, it takes a twist in the middle. This way, you get to use TWO sentiments. One on the front and one...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXiP9ZhABI/AAAAAAAAAPY/1BvphuHemOg/s1600/Accordian+Fold.+witha++twist.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXiP9ZhABI/AAAAAAAAAPY/1BvphuHemOg/s320/Accordian+Fold.+witha++twist.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">on the BACK!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXiK_TNXSI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/RpgolB98q64/s1600/Accordian+Fold+sentiment.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXiK_TNXSI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/RpgolB98q64/s320/Accordian+Fold+sentiment.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXiUqyt6yI/AAAAAAAAAPg/uLLqrGUVAz4/s1600/Accordian+fold+backside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/TAXiUqyt6yI/AAAAAAAAAPg/uLLqrGUVAz4/s320/Accordian+fold+backside.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I'm usually working under the wire....need a card like NOW!!<br />
I find I work best UNDER PRESSURE.<br />
<br />
later I will be posting more detailed directions for making this card.<br />
If you would like to see first-hand how to create one for yourself<br />

We've been busy in the fields: planting oats and corn AND pickin' ROCKS! EVERY YEAR....JUST LIKE CLOCKWORK!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/S_tM6h-jB6I/AAAAAAAAAMc/zNL5f4J5Vek/s1600/Rocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/S_tM6h-jB6I/AAAAAAAAAMc/zNL5f4J5Vek/s320/Rocks.jpg" /></a></div> The nice part is, that people in our area are looking for rocks, for landscaping, for water-damage control. Seems, as fast as we pick'em, THEY'RE GONE!! We just leave the wagon out at the front of the lawn and come morning, POOF! Most people will come to the house and ask to take them, but there was a woman in a skirt who just stopped and started loading them into her lil car and drove away!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-size: large;">Rocks...THE BEST CROP WE NEVER PLANTED!</span><br />

<br />
I will be back to card making soon....<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Over the past few years, there has been enormous demand from demonstrators and customers alike for a line of repositionable clear-mount rubber stamps. Well, we asked for it, and now we have it! Starting with stamps in the <strong>2010 Occasions Mini Catalog and the 2010 Sale-A-Bration</strong> <strong>Brochure</strong>, Stampin' Up! now offers their exclusive stamp art in both traditional wood-mount, and the new clear-mount option. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong>Clear-Mount Rubber Stamp Features </strong></div><br />
<strong>#</strong> Nine different sizes of clear blocks<br />
available individually or as a discounted bundle. <br />
<br />
<strong># </strong>Blocks have ergonomic grooves<br />
on all four sides for easy grip and traditional wood-mount feel. <br />
<br />
<strong># </strong>Stamps and blocks are durable and easy to clean <br />
with your Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist. <br />
<br />
<strong># </strong>Optional image labels on stamp backs<br />
let you decide if you want to see the image<br />
through the block or not. <br />
<br />
<strong>#</strong> Tight die-cutting for easy image positioning. <br />
<br />

This past Saturday evening, what a fun nite!! I was invited to the home of my Stampin' Up! upline, Dawn Olchefske's, for supper with 3 other demonstrators. Dawn prepared a Taco Soup that was so scrumptious with all the fixins (sour cream, shredded cheese, guacamole', salsa, etc.) AND some wonderful Corn Bread! We ate to our hearts content and then on to some very cute stampin projects. With some personal supplies in hand, (that Dawn had emailed us to bring) such as adhesives, scissors and our personal paper cutters (she supplied the rest)--we enjoyed an evening of food, fun and laughter. <br />
<br />
This event was a reward for achieving goals during the quarter...there were 4 of us that night.<br />
<strong>Gayle Klingelhoets, Ann Truenow, Bobbie Peterson and myself. </strong><br />
<br />
We received these wonderful bags with the <strong>Lovely Flowers Bundle/ level 3 hostess set.</strong> This includes the <strong>Flower Lines stamp set/Lovely Lines Rub-ons/ and double sided Designer Series paper-Lovely Flowers. </strong>You can earn this Hostess Set by contacting me to hostess your own <strong>Stampin' Up! workshop. </strong><a href="http://www.stampinpixiesdust.stampinup.net/"><strong>click here</strong></a><strong> </strong><br />
<br />
My wonderful hubby has joked that my stamping is an addiction...and I admit he's right! I told him that night...bye hon, I'm off to my <strong>SUPPORT GROUP!!</strong> It's so wonderful to have a group of women to encourage you to push yourself to new levels, inspire you with their creativeness and help you believe that <strong>YOU CAN!!</strong>Pixiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14779117246783626344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7085252697109213983.post-29991086943753932182010-02-20T06:05:00.001-06:002010-02-20T06:05:00.475-06:00Card /Matching Frame<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/S33bBXR3KfI/AAAAAAAAABw/AIV1AKABBkc/s1600-h/signed+matching+frame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gm4WOJyGIrE/S33bBXR3KfI/AAAAAAAAABw/AIV1AKABBkc/s320/signed+matching+frame.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong>Added Touches</strong></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I've been stamping long enough now, that I see the natural progression of things.<strong> </strong>When I first started out, my cards were simple. One or two layers, simple stamping, no embellishments! Sometimes I like to go back to the more simple time...but tweak it some. Take a simple stamp set. In this case "I {Heart} Hearts" from the Occasions Mini Catalog and Whimsical Words from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Even with the ribbon (white, colored with Certainly Celery Marker) and soft subtle button, it seemed to lack something. So...I add some Morse Code as I call it. Dashes and dots! They just seem to add a little dimension. With some squiggles...Voila', you now have a card that is "eye catching" but not over-the-top. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
